Development Application for Salamander Central Subdivision Approved

11 July 2016

The Development Application for Salamander Central, a 1 into 7 lot subdivision of commercially zoned land surrounding the existing shopping centre at Salamander Way, was approved by Council in April. The site has been vacant for a long period of time due to a history of unsuccessful development applications and a number of site constraints. The constraints included poor drainage, close proximity to SEPP 14 wetlands, and the location of threatened species habitat, bushfire prone land and cultural heritage objects within the wider site. EPS completed the Statement of Environmental Effects and project management services for project, and ensured all site constraints were addressed in the planning and design phases of the project.

The development consent is for the subdivision of land, development of a bus stop and upgrade of pedestrian and vehicular access. The project includes the installation of a set of traffic lights on Bagnalls Beach Road which will greatly improve traffic movements in the area, especially during peak tourism periods. The Development Application was endorsed unanimously by Council. EPS is proud to have been involved in this project as it is anticipated to provide a major improvement to Salamander Bay and lasting social and economic benefits to the area.  Construction on the project is planned to commence later this month.
