Accredited Assessors Forum

8 October 2018

In September, the EPS Ecology Team attended the Accredited Assessors Forum held over a day in Newcastle, NSW.

The Forum was run by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH). The purpose of the forum was to give an opportunity for all assessors, newly accredited under the new Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) and Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) to update their level of understanding, share their experiences and seek further clarification on some of the more difficult aspects of the BAM and BOS.

The Forum offered a variety of presentations and workshops run in conjunction with OEH on different aspects of te scheme including operations, compliance and reporting requirements. Assessors were given insights into how program delivery is progressing, how the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) operates and how the all-important credit market is performing.

EPS currently has four BAM Accredited Assessors, who can undertake assessments and provide advice for both Development and Biodiversity Stewardship sites, with projects already underway that are being surveyed and assessed using the BAM methodology.

For tailored advice on your project in relation to the BAM or BOS, please contact EPS Director of Ecology, Toby Lambert.
