Recent Ecology Pre-clearance Survey and Clearance Supervision Works

29 August 2016

EPS Ecology has recently undertaken pre-clearance and clearance surveys for a number of projects across New South Wales. These surveys were undertaken by our experienced ecologists to ensure that fauna were protected to the greatest extent possible during approved vegetation removal.

An example project is Salamander Central, a one into eight lot subdivision of commercial land around the existing shopping centre at Salamander Bay. Pre-clearance and clearance works were undertaken for the proponent, Port Stephens Council, in late-winter 2016. The development includes site preparation for future commercial development (i.e. vegetation clearing and earthworks), and upgrade of site infrastructure such as road and pedestrian access, site drainage and landscaping. EPS also undertook the environmental planning and approval works for the project.

Vegetation was cleared in accordance with an industry best-practice Tree Clearing Protocol prepared by EPS Ecology. Particular focus was given to ensuring no Koalas were injured during the clearing activities. As a result of EPS Ecology assistance no fauna injuries or fatalities occurred as a result of clearing activities and no adjoining remnant vegetation identified for retention was impacted.

EPS Ecology undertake vegetation clearance supervision for projects throughout New South Wales. For more information on EPS Ecology services contact EPS Director of Ecology, Toby Lambert on 02 9258 1985.
