EPS Appointment: State Government Economics Advisor for Mining/Coal Seam Gas Projects
20 February 2017
EPS has been appointed to the NSW Department of Planning & Environment’s Review of Economic Assessments for Mining and Coal Seam Gas Proposals panel.
The panel will provide independent advice to the Department on the robustness of economic assessments submitted by applicants seeking approval for State Significant Development (SSD) mining or coal seam gas projects.
This issue has been highlighted by recent legal challenges to the economic cases underpinning this type of major project.
A robust and consistent approach to assessment is a critical issue for NSW, particularly given the potential economic, social and environmental impacts (both positive and negative) of these proposed projects.
The appointment reflects EPS’ strength in economics, as well as our extensive project experience in the mining and energy infrastructure sectors.
EPS are a property and environmental consultancy with complementary expertise including Economics, Mining and Energy Projects.
