Update to Pollution Incident Response Management Plans Framework

Pollution Incident Response Management Plans (PIRMP) help minimise the risk of pollution incidents occurring, and establish appropriate response and reporting measures following pollution events.
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has made several recent updates to the framework that governs PRIMPs, including:
- A 1 September 2022 update to the ‘Guideline: Pollution Incident Response Management Plan’;
- A 1 September 2022 update to the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act);
- A new Protection of the Environment Operations (General) Regulation 2022 was introduced; and
- A September 2022 update has been made to the EPA’s PIRMP template.
All Environment Protection Licence (EPL) holders/licensees are required to prepare a PIRMP in accordance with section 153A of the POEO Act.
PIRMPs are required to be reviewed and tested on an annual basis. Our experienced staff would be please to assist any EPL holder develop, review or test their PIRMPs.
